Above, John close to finishing the 2010 triathlon
And here, with detail about the charity and the triathlon, is an email from John himself:
Dear All,
If you prefer not to get "please sponsor me emails", please stop reading, delete this and accept my apologies...
for those of you who are still reading - I would like to ask whether you would be kind enough to consider sponsoring me for the Shoreline Triathlon in Bude on June 26th. I am raising money on behalf of the Pituitary Foundation.
This is a sprint triathlon (half mile swim, 11 mile cycle and 3 mile run) and I will be aiming to beat my time from last year ~ 1 hour 19 minutes.
Why the Pituitary Foundation? I have been lucky enough to survive a serious head injury relatively unscathed. The centre of the injury was millimeters from the pituitary but thankfully the thickness of my skull prevented any damage. However, for those unfortunate enough to have a pituitary disorder, the various conditions that cause it are so rare and little known that even getting a correct diagnosis can be very difficult. Without the right information things can be too far gone to do anything about by the time a diagnosis has been made.
All donations would be very welcome. If you would like to donate my just giving web page is at:

Thank you,
