The sea is almost still. Very light SE breeze, hardly enough to ripple the water.

As a consolation for zero surf, I offer, below, another Rossnowlagh postcard. 1950s with the Sandhouse on the left. Not much surf that day either.

ReplyDeleteA calm morning can turn into good surf later in the day. However there won't be any improvement today, probably not till next Sunday, according to www.windguru.com - windguru is a reliable indicator and you can find Rossnowlagh on it. However their measurements are taken by bouys 200k out to sea where swell is bigger than here in the Bay. Read 1 metre as about 6inches by the time it reaches Rossnowlagh beach.
ReplyDeleteTullan in Bundoran sometimes catches more swell than here, especially during low tide. Call any of the surf shops there for a local update.
I think the lack of surf might be my fault...... I just moved to Rossnowlagh so I could be near the beach (and i AM!! .5km to the sand - sweet!) so obviously now im here murphys law dictates that there will be no swell...... I would like to offer my sincere apologies to all concerned. Dave.
