Below, the fruits of fuschia which have cropped heavily this year. There is an odd prejudice in Ireland against the fuschia plant - many people think it is poisonous. Whatever about its leaves, certainly its fruits are not poisonous. They are rich in vitamin C like other hedgerow berries such as blackberry. The fuschia berries are ripe when they turn from dark red to being soft and juicy with a slight green tinge. Like blackberries, they can be made into jams and jellies. Just adapt your favourite recipe.
