8.45am Wednesday 10 May 2017

Calm, apart from a small 1 foot swell rising close to shore and just a breath of light force 1 west northwesterly onshore breeze.
The dark shadowy lines visible on the surface of the sea off Coolmore point are groups of Scoter busy with their mating dance. These little black ducks, live year round on the surf off Rossnowlagh beach, apart from their mating, close to shore and nesting up on Lower Lough Erne, in Co Fermanagh. The males do their dance in almost military formation and then break up into bobbing and diving - fun to watch if you can get close enough. Lots of them dancing this morning. Apart from the groups in the photo, there are more groups of mating Scoter visible westward towards Creevy.
