Re Brigid's Day/Imbolc/First day of Spring - Irish and Celtic all identify today as the start of Spring and the tradition still holds against the choice by experts of 1 March. The issue was hotly disputed in http://www.thejournal.ie/ last week. I have spring in my kitchen anyhow, a nice fresh green Brigid's Cross.
