THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: As we await storm Christina, it's worth bearing in mind that today is the anniversary of the Night of the Big Wind of 1839, a cataclysmic event that cost more ethan 300 lives and is still etched in Irish folk memory. According to local lore, (as recounted by Liam Finnegan), not a house was left standing in Rossnowlagh on that night and the sea came in as far as Ballintra.
