Why the distance is so hazy this morning - smoke not mist - Donegal is burning. There's a trail of smoke across the west end of the Bay and a smell of woodsmoke in the air from the wildfires raging through gorse and forest at Dubally, off the Knather at Ballyshannon where cross border fire brigades are helping hold it back from houses. The haze on the Blue Stack hills is probably from the out of control fires in Barnes Gap. All caused by dry weather, east wind and possible arson.
